After cleaning up and tweaking a bit  low-hanging fruit in the account, our first major initiative was to completely rebuild branded search campaign which was one of the few campaigns currently running in the account.

The current campaign was badly organized, utilized inefficient search terms, and were missing many valuable brand-based keywords. Not to mention that all of the keywords were combined in only one ad group resulting with low quality score and ad relevance.

We have utilized SKAG approach by adding each of the profitable keywords into their own separate ad groups in 3 different keyword matches: exact, phrase and modified broad match. We then created new set of copy for each ad group maximizing ad relevance and quality.

Next big thing was research on non branded and generic but relevant keywords for their business which are both relevant enough but also have a solid monthly search volume. Once we compiled the list, we created a separate beta search campaign following same SKAG approach.

On top of it, we have created all kinds of relevant audiences for the purpose of retargeting starting with the website visitors and cart abandoners and following with audiences of people who engaged on their Youtube channel (viewed video, subscribed to channel, liked a video etc.) separating each of them into several different timeframes (1,3,7,14,30 days) depending on their sizes and availability for each campaign type.

Once those audiences were created and populated, we created separate retargeting campaigns for each audience type using both display, discovery and YT ads (skippable instream).

As the last touch we started working on creating several YT ads campaigns targeting cold audiences using mainly keywords and custom intent targeting based on their competitors URLs to start with. Later on down the road, we started testing quite a few relevant in-market and affinity audiences based on the account and Google Analytics data.

As a result, we were able to get on average 5,000 laser targeted and high quality leads each month for under $5 per lead reaching all time high numbers of leads generated per month.

In reality if we would combine both leads, scheduled calls (which is offered as a separate lead category) and sales (yeah, we also got those!), cost per lead was actually under $1 per lead.

And this is just a start as we have a solid strategy in place already to scale it even further!
